Bands you might be surprised who are still touring in 2014
Our advice- you might want to break down and finally buy a
ticket this year…it really could be your last chance.
Rolling Stones:
Ok for this one you may need to also pick up a passport. Right now it looks
like they are overseas…if you catch them though you will be able to catch most
of the original cast. Well-known names Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are still
rocking out and even though he wasn’t an original member, drummer Charley Watts
joined the band early enough in the game that he is often considered an
original himself.
ZZ Top: They're even making new music! Check out their latest release….only a year old in 2013 “I Gotsta Get Paid”
KISS…WITH Def
Leppard – we know it’s almost too good to be true. And…Since the majority of
our readers and patrons are from the triangle… here you go- a direct link to
get your tickets:
Chicago: They even have their own sound cloud on their blog
to brush up on their songs before the big night:

#bestlongsongs for your work out, road trip or listening pleasure
We would have to guess- January and the summer are the two times a year when the gym is the most packed. January is catching people post News Year’s resolutions and summer holds more than enough wedding guest or dress attire and bikinis than we can count.
With summer and wedding season in full swing- we wanted to provide a list of the some of the longest songs for your bridal or bikini body workouts. These tunes will last as long as you do…maybe longer. *Spoiler Alert* Free Bird is NOT on the list. We had to dig deeper than that…
In no particular order:
· Purple Rain-Prince And The Revolution (8m42s)
· Station To Station-David Bowie (10m14s)
· Too Long-Daft Punk, ' (10m00s)
· Come Back-FooFighters (8m)
· Estranged – "Guns N Roses 10m
· Stairway to heaven-Led Zeppelin (8m)
· Machine Gun-Jimi Hendrix, 12:36
· Starless-King Crimson, 12:16
· Echoes-Pink Floyd, 23:31
· Achilles Last Stand-Led Zeppelin, 10:25
· Voodoo Chile-Jimi Hendrix, 14:59
Check out #bestlongsongs on twitter for the complete list of songs and input from other people who are looking to to do everything from work out longer, rock out longer or taking a long road trip!

Pre-Wedding Playlist: Songs to get you ready for the big day!
The appropriate way to rock out in a wedding dress |
A SoCal Suggestion: mix in your own personal songs that mean something to you and the bride. Maybe there's a song you both love to dance to that is totally un-wedding related and awesome. Do you karaoke to the spice girls- invite them to the party and play wanna be at random. Do the bride and groom have their own song- add it to the bag... you get the idea .
"Going to the Chapel" by The Crystals
"Chapel of Love" by The Beach Boys
"Love and Marriage" by Frank Sinatra
"Get Me to the Church on Time" from My Fair Lady
"White Wedding" by Billy Idol
"Plan on Forever" by Sue Ann Carwell & Mervyn Warren
"I Do (Cherish You)" by 98 Degrees
"Wedding Day" by Bee Gees
"(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" by Darlene Love
"It Had to Be You" by Harry Connick Jr.
"A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson
"How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" by James Taylor
"You're the One That I Want" from Grease
"I Say a Little Prayer" by Dionne Warwick or Aretha Franklin
"All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles
"Rock This Town" by Stray Cats
"Love You Madly" by Cake
"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves

In Honor of LA Fashion Week, SoCal Entertainment (named after Southern California) Shows Some Style ( Layered with Love)
As part of the nightlife scene we have seen some of the best
and the worst weekend fashion attire. We wanted to give a head nod to our best
dressed karaoke stars and offer some tips on how to prepare for your weekend
catwalk to the karaoke stage.
Layered with Love: It’s
not doubt that in our area the weather has been a little indecisive. The best
bet is to throw on your favorite pair of jeans a cute top and then a sweater or
stunning jacket. This way you can remove what you need to feel comfortable but
are still prepared for the walk to the car after hours.
Blazers are a great way to dress up any outfit, so you can take you look from your Friday work life to Friday night life.
Leather leggings, yes please! Paid these with a cleaner look for a touch of edge without going OVER the edge.

Don't stuff your summer dress into the back of the closet just because the sun isn't in full shine. Add a wool and warm cardigan with stockings or leggings to rock your favorite dress all year around.
Show off the shorts by piecing it together with a cardigan and top.

Ballerina flats are adorable, but lets step out of the cute comfort zone and go for bold. These colored and printed point toe flats add all the character of a high heel without the pain! You can even get them in a staple black in case you are coming from work or already have enough color for the night.
Wedges are always a great find. They allow you more support and still provide the same height as a heel!
The best of both worlds here...the flat and the wedge collide in these "flat wedge" finds. They are still the new kid on the block in the fashion scene, but are quickly becoming a staple item.
Get Out of Heel Hell: After
plenty of liquid courage, we've seen girls brave putting their bare feet on the
dance floor just for a moment’s relief from their high heels (cringe). Besides the sticky mess and dirt there is
always the potential of stepping on broken glass. We've heard
of suffering for fashion but bleeding over it is another story. Check out some
of these awesome shoes that are dance floor approved!

Meet Your DJ- Interview with SoCal Entertainment DJ J-Rock aka Jay
A personal touch is a
large part of how SoCal Entertainment
runs a shows. CEO Jeremias de la Cruz continually reminds the team
to not only know and engage with their client but also their client's clients- ie
YOU!
From reading our posts
and twitter feed you might get a vibe of the company and what we are about-
fun, professionalism and music- but we’d like to take the time to introduce the
team individually as they continue to personally serve music and entertainment at your favorite local night spots.
Alias: Jay or DJ J-Rock
Twitter Handle:
@DJ_J_Rock
JJay is all over! You can find him hosting shows in Danville VA
at Highlanders pub and Hams but he also takes his talent across
state lines at the Hams locations in Greensboro , High Point and
Kernersville. Although he travels for his
shows, Jay calls Greensboro home. He moved to the city from Cleveland, Ohio 15
years ago.
How does he start the night? With Dancing! “I like to start all
my shows with a song that everybody knows that will have them singing the words
and dancing. I guess I like to play dance music because I like to dance. Seeing
people dancing and having fun is always a great feeling.”
All of our DJs are happy to play any of your requests and
favorite songs- but you and Jay could be music soul mates if you enjoy dance
music from hip hop to house electronic- these are his personal favorite genres.
Why did Jay decide to DJ? : “I just like to see the people up
dancing singing having a great time. I became a DJ simply because I have a love
for music and being around people.”
So where did we find this guy? He was one of You! After attending
the shows for years, Jay decided to step to the other side of the booth. He has
been with the company for two years now.
All SoCal Entertainment DJs are professional and approachable.
They are there for YOU- so don't hesitate to say "hello".

From Movie Star to Karaoke Star- Matt Damon Sings From a Disney Soundtrack
Matt Damon: " I Relax with Karaoke and Know All the Songs to the Little Mermaid"
The Elysium actor admits that belting out tunes after a hard day's work helps him to unwind, especially if he can get other people involved.
"[I relax by] going to karaoke on a double date with my wife Luciana. I know all the songs to the Little Mermaid...only because I have four daughters...." Read more

Keep Calm and Karaoke On! With Drake as Drake!
Most people are familiar with the term "celebrity shot"- when someone who is typically better than you are, steps in for your turn.
Imagine if an actual celeb came in to handle some of your Karaoke lyrics for you- and who better than the actual artist them self!
That's what happened at Saddle Ranch when Drake jumps in for a portion of this fan's song...ok we admit it, we're jealous.
So keep calm and karaoke on...you never know what could happen!

“You Are My Sunshine” Traditional version: OK, we had to add some commentary here…
“Did you think this was a sweet little love
song, something your mom might have sung to you as a lullaby? Well, the chorus
is deceptive. Listen to the verses and you’ll find this traditional folk song —
which has been recorded by the Carter Family, Johnny Cash, and many others — is
narrated by someone begging the love of their life not to leave them for
someone else. The cheery chorus is turned on its head into a painful lament in
the context of the heartbroken verses. “But if you leave me and love another /
You’ll regret it all someday,” the song warns before launching into the
plaintive begging of the well-known chorus.”
8.
“I’m So Lonesome
I Could Cry,” Hank Williams
9.
“Cocaine Blues,” Johnny Cash
10.
“Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” Nancy
Sinatra
